SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Sept. 21, 2023) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team opens Lone Star Conference action tomorrow night against St. Mary's.
TWU (8-3) closed their nonconference slate at the LSC Crossover last weekend, going 3-0. STMU (5-6) also played in an LSC Crossover last weekend. The Rattlers faced UAFS, Angelo State and Texas A&M – Kingsville and lost all three matches.
The Pioneers will be looking to start off their conference schedule with a win and increase their current winning streak to six matches.

SHOWDOWN IN SAN ANTONIO
- A LOOK AT THE RATTLERS: STMU is currently on a four match losing streak. Friday night's match marks the first home match for the Rattlers of the 2023 season. Most recently, the Rattlers were swept in their past two matches – the last set they won was against UAFS on Thursday, Sept. 14. The Rattlers are currently hitting .204 on the season and, on average, they hold their opponents to hitting .191. STMU averages 1.8 aces per set and 1.4 blocks per set. On offense, they are led by Landri Withers with 101 kills. No. 5 Cali Nims leads the Rattlers in assists with 237 on the season. Nims also leads the Rattlers in aces with 14 on the season. No. 19 Dallasstar Johnson claims the most blocks on the team with 21, and No. 14 Alyssa Koehl leds in digs with 169 on the season.
- STEP BACK IN TIME: The Rattlers own the all-time record with the Pioneers, 10-8. Nevertheless, TWU won the most recent meeting between the two teams, defeating the Rattlers in five sets in Denton, Texas. TWU has not played in San Antonio since 2014, when the Pioneers fell in five sets.
- RECENT LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Luna França helped hold the Pioneers opponents to hitting just .117 at the LSC Crossover, including two opponents who hit under .100. She went 100% on the weekend in serve receptions and added 5.22 digs per set. In all three matches, she recorded double-digit digs on the way to three sweeps for the Pioneers. She also recorded a 2.5 passing average. Last weekend, Grace Reynolds led the Pioneers with 49 assists and set the Pioneers up for hitting .262 on the weekend. Reynolds has also guided the Pioneers to the top hitting efficiency in the conference on the season, .252. Reynolds ranks 13th in the conference in assists and third in aces. On the weekend, she also played great defense recording 25 digs. Cara Pool averaged 3.5 points per set at the LSC Crossover to lead TWU with 2.78 kills per set. She currently ranks second in the LSC in hitting efficiency on the season and 19th in Division II. The Pioneers have swept their last four matches, tying the longest sweep streak for TWU since 2012.
