PIONEERS START FEBRUARY IN OKLAHOMA CITY

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 31, 2024) – The Texas Woman's basketball team is back on the road this week, as they travel to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, Feb. 1 to start this weekend's road trip.

TWU (18-3, 12-1) will meet OC (3-14, 2-11) to kick off the month of February.

Most recently, the Pioneers played two games on the road last week, defeating West Texas A&M, 69-58, and Lubbock Christian, 76-64. TWU is currently on an eight-game win streak – all eight of which they have won by 10 or more points.

The Eagles played at home last week and dropped two close contests, losing to Cameron, 53-50, and Midwestern State, 76-74.

The Pioneers will look to record their eighth road win of the season, 13th win in Lone Star Conference play and 19th win of the season on Thursday.

HITTING THE ROAD TO OKC  READY FOR THE SEASON SWEEP
  • HISTORY: The Pioneers are 7-2 all-time against the Eagles. They are currently on a five game win streak. Since OC is in their division, the two teams have already met once this season. On Jan. 6, 2024, TWU defeated OC, 77-52, in Denton, Texas. Scout Huffman led the Pioneers in the matchup with a career high 26 points. Ashley Ingram joined Huffman in double-digits with 10 points and also led the Pioneers on the boards with 10 rebounds. In the game, the Pioneers shot 55.1% from the field, scored 30 points in the paint and 25 points off turnovers. They will look to continue their winning ways on Thursday night.
  • EFFICIENCY IS KEY: The Pioneers currently average 45.2% from the field per game, which ranks first in the LSC and 19th in the NCAA Division II. Ashley Ingram leads the Pioneers from the field, averaging 62.4% per game. Ingram ranks first in the LSC and third in the NCAA Division II. OC ranks 12th in the LSC in field goal percentage, averaging 38.3% from the field per game. 
  • THEY'RE FREE: The Pioneers rank 18th in NCAA Division II in free throw attempts per game, taking 22.29 per game. In the NCAA DII, Ashley Ingram is tied for second in free throw attempts per game. As a team, the Pioneers average 75.4% from the free throw line, which ranks third in the LSC.
