FRISCO, Texas (March 10, 2024) — A champion will be be crowned today at the Comerica Center.
TWU (28-4, 20-2) will meet UT Permian Basin (24-6, 17-5) in the Lone Star Conference Championship title game today at 3:30 p.m.
Yesterday, the Pioneers defeated Texas A&M International, 84-72, in the LSC Championship semifinals to advance to the title game for the fourth time in program history. In the other semifinal contest, UTPB defeated UT Tyler, 70-68, to advance to the championship game for the first time in program history.
The championship game will tip-off at 3:30 p.m. in the Comerica Center.

SECOND MEETING: Sunday will mark the second meeting between the Pioneers and the Falcons. The two teams met on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Kitty Magee Arena. UTPB won the meeting 51-47. The Pioneers struggled offensively in the contest – never reaching the 20 point mark in a quarter; nevertheless, they played great defensively. They held the Falcons to 27.3% from the field and 24.1% from beyond the arc to hold UTPB to just 51 points. The Pioneers shot 34% from the field and 18.2% from the three point line. The Pioneers will look to pair strong defense with strong offense on Sunday.
TOP SCORERS: Yesterday, in the semifinal,
Ashley Ingram led TWU with 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. She shot 9-of-11 from the field and 1-of-2 from beyond the arc. For the Falcons, No. 00 Kamryn Lemon led offensively, scoring 28 points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists. Ingram, the LSC Player of the Year, will meet UTPB's Alexus Quaadman, who was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year.
CRASH THE BOARDS: Rebounding will be key in the game on Sunday. In their lone meeting this season, the Pioneers were out-rebounded by the Falcons, 51-32. The Falcons also scored 10 second chance points. TWU will look to limit the rebounding of UTPB on Sunday.
