PIONEERS READY FOR SATURDAY MEETING WITH ST. EDWARD'S

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 11, 2025) – The Texas Woman's basketball team continues their home stand this afternoon against St. Edward's.

TWU (14-1, 7-1) looks to continue to build upon their 5-0 record in KMA this season. Most recently, the Pioneers defeated St. Mary's in a low-scoring contest, 49-40, on Thursday, Jan. 9.

SEU (6-10, 2-5) met UT Tyler on the road on Thursday and fell to the Patriots, 60-45.

It will mark the 18th meeting between the Pioneers and the Hilltoppers with TWU owning the all-time record 12-5. TWU has won the last seven games against SEU, and the Pioneers are 6-1 in KMA. The two teams last met in Denton, Texas on Feb. 8, 2024, and TWU claimed the win 69-59.

KMA ENERGY
  • STRONG FROM THE FIELD: As a team, the Pioneers are ranked first in the Lone Star Conference in field goal percentage, shooting 44% from the field. Scout Huffman leads the way for TWU. She ranks second in the LSC in field goal percentage, averaging 55.9% from the field. On the other hand, SEU ranks ninth in team field goal percentage, as they shoot 40.1% from the field per game.
  • MUSCLE MOVES IN THE PAINT: TWU has been strong in outscoring their opponents in the paint this season. The Hilltoppers rank fifth in the LSC in blocked shots, averaging 3.19 blocks per game. TWU will look to maintain control and dominate the paint on Saturday.
  • DISH OUT DIMES: The Pioneers rank third in the LSC in assists, averaging 14.80 assists per game. Ashley Ingram leads TWU in dishing out dimes. She averages 3.5 assists per game, which ranks fourth in the LSC. Executing on offense and sharing the ball has been key to TWU's success.
