DENTON, Texas (Nov. 4, 2025) – Across the Texas Woman's volleyball last week, junior libero Alyssa Rojo dominated the defense for the Pioneers, winning her second Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career. 

Last week, the Pioneers went 2-1. They swept Texas A&M International at home in KMA on Oct. 28. Then, they went on the road and fell in five sets to the No. 1 team in the conference Lubbock Christian on Friday, Oct. 31. TWU closed the week with a five-set win over Midwestern State in Wichita Falls on Saturday, Nov. 1. 

Rojo anchored the Pioneers defense throughout the three matches. On the week, she recorded a total of 114 digs to average 8.77 per set. Against TAMIU, TWU held the Dustdevils to hitting .015 on the night for just 36 total kills. Across the sets, the Pioneers never gave up more than 18 points. Rojo finished with 23 digs. Against LCU, Rojo recorded a career high mark of 42 digs. Then, against MSU, Rojo set a new career high with 49 digs. She also helped hand MSU their first home loss of the season and held them to their lowest hitting percentage of the season at .116. On the week, TWU held their opponents to hitting just .120. 

In the LSC, Rojo ranks No. 1 in digs per set, averaging 5.55. She also ranks 10th in NCAA Division II in digs per set. 

Along with her impressive dig numbers, Rojo also recorded a .978 reception percentage across the three matches. 

"Alyssa played exceptional this entire week with career high numbers," Head Coach Jessica Ransom said. "Our team made a goal to improve defensively, and they have exceeded all of their goals. Our block has been solid and doing their job, which allows Alyssa to focus on getting us in system. I'm very proud of our defensive efforts across the board." 

The honor marks TWU's fifith overall LSC Player of the Week honor of the season and fourth Defensive Player of the Week honor.
