WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Feb. 28, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University softball team kicked off their road trip in Wichita Falls, but came up empty-handed in a pair of games against Midwestern State. TWU (9-5, 5-5) fell short in both contests against MSU (6-13, 3-7) on the diamond, dropping three straight games for the first time this season.
The Pioneers took control early in game one, leading 1-0 after the first inning. They extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning following a solo home run. However, a strong bottom of the sixth inning by the Mustangs helped them edge out TWU, 4-3, to defend their home turf.
Midwestern State's momentum from game one carried over to game two, as they jumped to a quick 3-0 lead after the first three innings. A few timely swings by TWU in the following innings brought the Pioneers back into the game, and they managed to tie the score. However, MSU regained the lead with three more runs, and despite a late surge in the seventh inning that tied the game at 6-6, the Mustangs ultimately closed out the visiting Pioneers in their final at-bat.
