DENTON, Texas (March 15, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University softball team bounced back into the win column Friday evening after splitting a doubleheader with Texas A&M-Kingsville. After falling 2-0 in the first game at Dianne Baker Field, TWU (13-9, 9-9) rallied in Game two for a 4-3 victory over TAMUK (16-13, 11-7). The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead in the second game and held on to secure the win.
Despite a two-RBI home run by the Javelinas in the fourth inning, both teams were held in check by strong pitching. Allison Gonzalez of TWU and TAMUK's Arianna Alaniz engaged in a pitching duel, with the Javelinas ultimately edging the Pioneers in the opener.
TWU capitalized on an early run in Game two with the return of freshman pitcher Randi Crawford, whose solid outing along with strong defense kept the Javelinas off the scoreboard until the fourth inning. TAMUK made a late push in the seventh, but it wasn't enough, as Texas Woman's sealed the victory.

HEAR FROM HEAD COACH GAY MCNUTT
"In Game one, Allison Gonzalez threw very well, but we just couldn't get anything going offensively to help her out,"McNutt said. "I was really pleased with how we came out in Game two and took control of the game. It was great to have Randi back in the circle, and she threw a great game," McNutt said.
