DENTON, Texas (March 20, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University softball team closed out their home stand at Dianne Baker Field on Wednesday evening, falling in both games to Great American Conference opponent Oklahoma Baptist. TWU (14-12, 10-10) came up short in the doubleheader against OBU (18-12, 11-3), as the Bison were red-hot at the plate, combining for 20 runs over the two games.
The opening game of the night, which coincided with Pack the House and Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, saw the Pioneers battle back despite an early deficit. Oklahoma Baptist jumped out to a six run lead through the first four innings before TWU responded with five unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth. However, the Bison added an insurance run in the seventh to secure the non conference victory.
Both teams carried their offensive momentum into the second game, with a back-and-forth battle early on. TWU trailed 5-4 after four innings, but Oklahoma Baptist took control with three runs in the fifth and five more in the seventh to seal the sweep.
