PIONEERS EARN FIRST CONFERENCE SWEEP OF THE SEASON AGAINST WNMU

DENTON, Texas (March 7, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University softball team earned its first sweep of the season, defeating Western New Mexico in both games of a doubleheader in six innings at home. The victories extended the Pioneers' (12-6, 8-6) win streak to three games and handed the Mustangs (6-17, 3-11) two consecutive losses before they head to Tyler for a matchup with the defending champions.

This series marked one of the Pioneers' most complete two-game stretches of the season, with strong performances on both offense and defense. In Game 1, the Pioneers' pitching was dominant, with Allison Gonzalez allowing only one hit. In Game 2, TWU collected 13 hits, the second-most in a game this season, following an impressive 11-hit performance in the opener.

The Pioneers also tied their second-highest run total of the season, defeating WNMU 8-0 in Game 1 and 11-3 in Game 2 to begin their 10-game homestand.
