TYLER, Texas (April 22, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University softball team visited No. 3 UT Tyler in Tyler, Texas on Tuesday afternoon for their second matchup of the season, following a series of rescheduling. The Pioneers fell in both games by two run rule scores of 8-0, respectively. TWU (20-26, 16-24) was over matched in both contests against UT Tyler (45-4, 35-4), as the Patriots were dominant in all aspects of the matchup including catching fire at the plate early in game two.
In game one, UT Tyler started out with an early 2-0 lead after the first and extended their lead with four RBIs in the fourth to take the 6-0 lead. As TWU continued to struggle on the offensive side, UTT continued their scoring with two more runs in the fifth and closed out the Pioneers 8-0 to take game one.
The Patriots continued their strong play in game two as momentum carried over big time as they started off with a 3 RBI home run in the first inning. More of the same came in the second and third as two more homers turned into five Patriot runs which ultimately went on to be enough to take another shutout victory. The Pioneers were held to just two hits on the day and were not able to get in rhythm at the plate.

TWU will look to finish on a high note this weekend at home as they close out the regular season against LSC opponents Cameron and Oklahoma Christian. The matchup with the Aggies is set for Friday, April 25 at 4 and 6 p.m. The final games vs OC are on Sunday, April 27, at 1 and 3 p.m. at Dianne Baker Field.
