CLAREMORE, Okla. (March 12, 2026) - The Texas Woman's Pioneers softball split a non conference doubleheader with No. 18 Rogers State Hillcats softball on Wednesday afternoon. Rogers State (16-6) took the opener 3-0 before Texas Woman's (10-12, 7-5) answered with a 1-0 extra-inning victory in game two.
Game one featured a pitching duel, as both teams finished with three hits and no errors. Rogers State capitalized on key scoring opportunities to plate three runs, while the Pioneers were unable to deliver a timely hit despite a two-hit performance from Madison Lux.
Texas Woman's responded in the nightcap, collecting seven hits while again playing error-free defense. The Pioneers broke through in the top of the eighth inning when Marissa Espinoza scored on a play that began with a Hawwa Townsend single to right field, securing the shutout victory and a split of the doubleheader

After seven scoreless innings, the Pioneers broke through in the eighth. Townsend singled to right field, and Espinoza scored after a fielding error by the right fielder, giving Texas Woman's the deciding run.

The Pioneer defense closed the door in the bottom of the inning to secure the shutout and the split.

The Texas Woman's Pioneers softball return home this week to host two series at Dianne Baker Field. The Pioneers will face Sul Ross State Lobos on Friday before welcoming Western New Mexico Mustangs on Sunday.
