DENTON, Texas (May 4, 2026) - The Texas Woman's softball team finished out their regular-season schedule 3-1 in a four-game weekend series, taking two games against Texas A&M International to complete the season sweep before splitting two games on Senior Day Sunday with Texas A&M-Kingsville.
TWU (29-25, 23-17) was able to tame the Dustdevils once more at Dianne Baker Field with a 3-0 shutout for their eighth of the year and then finished the first series on Friday with an 8-3 win to complete the season sweep over TAMIU.
On Sunday, the Pioneers faced the visiting Javelinas, dropping the opener in a close 5-3 battle before bouncing back in game two with a 5-2 victory to cap off the regular season at home.
Following the weekend, TWU sits in eighth place in the conference standings as West Texas A&M secured the regular-season title and will host the 2026 Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament this weekend.Â

Game 1 vs. TAMIU (TWU won 3-0)

Junior leadoff hitter Marissa Espinoza wasted no time getting Senior Day weekend started with a solo home run on just the third pitch of the bottom of the first to put the Pioneers up 1-0.

A costly error by International led TWU to add to its first-inning lead as Hawwa Townsend reached home plate for a 2-0 advantage.

In the sixth, the Pioneers scored an insurance run to close out game one with a 3-0 shutout over the Dustdevils, with an RBI single from Zaryah to bring in Madison Altman.
Game 2 vs. TAMIU (TWU won 8-3)

After an early deficit from a three-run Dustdevil inning, Madison Lux got the Pioneers going with a three-RBI double to left-center that cleared the bases to tie the ballgame 3-3 in the bottom of the third.

Espinoza brought the same energy in the fourth with a three-RBI home run of her own to extend the TWU lead to 6-3.

Runs scored by Ashley Allinger on a Williams RBI single and Riley Todd on a fielder's choice gave TWU enough cushion to hold off TAMIU for the 8-3 win.

After a slow start by both teams, a fourth-inning spark from both sides led to a 4-2 deficit for the Pioneers after two-RBI singles from Todd and Williams cut into the four-run Javelina lead as Lizzie Smith and Altman scored.

The bats got rolling again in the seventh as Todd singled up the middle for her second RBI, but TWU fell just short of a comeback, taking the 5-3 loss.

Espinoza led the attack offensively in game two with a two-run home run to left field to give the Pioneers an early 2-0 lead in the third.

Williams continued her hot bat at the plate with another RBI up the middle to extend the Pioneer lead to 3-0 after Todd reached home.

Senior Ashley Allinger closed out game two on a high note for Senior Day with a two-RBI double to bring home Trinity Perry and Camille Soriano for the 5-2 Sunday victory.

The Pioneers will await their final confirmed seeding placement in the LSC Championship bracket, revealed later today at the conclusion of the Midwestern State and Western New Mexico doubleheader in Wichita Falls, Texas.
