DENTON, Texas (Sept. 10, 2026) - Texas Woman's soccer opened conference play with a 2-0 victory over Oklahoma Christian Wednesday night at Pioneer Soccer Park, extending their winning streak to five matches.
The Pioneers (5-0-0, 1-0-0) received goals from Lauren Wade and Giselle Gutierrez, with each finding the back of the net late in their respective halves. The victory also marked TWU's third consecutive shutout.
TWU controlled the attack throughout the match, outshooting Oklahoma Christian (3-2-0, 0-1-0), 18-9, and putting 13 shots on goal compared with four for the Eagles. TWU goalkeeper Faith Graves recorded four saves to preserve the shutout.

42': Wade broke through late in the first half with just over three minutes remaining before half time to put the Pioneers ahead 1-0 and give them momentum heading into the break.

Graves kept Oklahoma Christian off the board making multiple first half saves, including stops on three OC chances in the opening 11 minutes.

62': Graves came up with another key save in the 62nd minute, helping preserve TWU's clean sheet.

Gutierrez delivered the insurance goal with two minutes remaining as she found the back of the net to push TWU's advantage to 2-0 and seal the victory. The late goal from Gutierrez capped a strong finish to the night.

TWU's combination of timely scoring and defensive work resulted in a 2-0 shutout against Oklahoma Christian, with Graves and the Pioneer defense holding OC scoreless.Â

"We started off sluggish the first 10-15 minutes," Abouzar said. "Faith made some really important saves, especially early in the game, and gave us the confidence to keep playing. I'm really proud of the resiliency our team showed this game. Lauren gave us a really important goal right before halftime, and that was a big moment for us going into the break. Giselle did a great job getting that second goal late to help us finish the game. Those are the moments we need from our attacking players. Three shutouts in a row says a lot about our players and the complete team effort, and I'm really happy for them to be in this position. We'll enjoy this one, but we know there is still a lot of work ahead of us, especially with another tough conference game coming up on Saturday in Austin."
