SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Sept. 11, 2026) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team continued play at the Lone Star Conference Challenge Friday night, falling to unbeaten UT Tyler in three sets inside Bill Greehey Arena.
TWU (3-7) battled throughout the match and showed improvement in the third set, but UT Tyler (9-0) remained unbeaten with a 3-0 victory, 25-13, 25-14, 25-21.
The Pioneers finished with 25 kills, 24 assists and 50 digs. TWU also recorded five service aces and five blocks on the night.
UT Tyler totaled 33 kills and hit .206 for the match, while finishing with 55 digs, nine service aces and 12 blocks.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Mary Grace King and Kaysie Nabors led the Pioneers offensively with five kills apiece. King also added seven digs and two blocks.
- Teagan Hill finished with four kills and tied for the team lead with three blocks.
- Trinity Blackwood also recorded three blocks for the Pioneers.
- Allie Watson directed the TWU offense with a team-high 13 assists.
- Lorena Gómez contributed eight assists and six digs.
- Alyssa Rojo anchored the Pioneers defensively with a match-high 15 digs and added two service aces.
KEY MOMENTS
Set 1 UT Tyler Pulls Away: The Pioneers stayed within striking distance early, but UT Tyler began to create separation midway through the opening frame. The Patriots recorded 13 kills with just one error to hit .300 in the set and claimed a 25-13 victory.
Set 2 Patriots Extend Lead: UT Tyler carried its momentum into the second set and limited the Pioneers to six kills. TWU struggled to find its offensive rhythm, hitting -.125 in the frame, as the Patriots took the set 25-14 and moved ahead 2-0 in the match.
Set 3 Pioneers Battle: TWU put together its strongest offensive performance of the night in the third set. The Pioneers recorded a match-high 12 kills and hit .139 while battling the Patriots throughout the frame. UT Tyler held off TWU down the stretch to take the set 25-21 and close out the match in three.

The Pioneers will open Lone Star Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 19, traveling to Dallas to take on DBU. First serve is set for 2 p.m. inside the Burg Center.
