DALLAS, Texas (Sept. 20, 2026) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team opened Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon, falling to DBU in three sets inside the Burg Center.
TWU (3-8, 0-1 LSC) battled the Patriots throughout the afternoon, but DBU (9-2, 2-0 LSC) used an efficient offensive performance to secure the 3-0 victory, 25-14, 25-16, 25-15.
The Pioneers finished the match with 23 kills, 21 assists and 37 digs while adding three service aces and three blocks. DBU totaled 37 kills, 34 assists and 39 digs. The Patriots also recorded 10 service aces and six blocks.
DBU finished the afternoon hitting .341, committing just eight attack errors on 85 attempts. The Pioneers hit .011 with 23 kills on 90 attempts.
IMPACT PLAYERS
- Kaysie Nabors led the Pioneers offensively with a match-high nine kills and also contributed a team-high three blocks.
- Charlise Smith added four kills for TWU, while Trinity Blackwood finished with three kills and one block.
- Lorena Gómez and Allie Watson shared setting duties, recording seven assists apiece. Gómez also added seven digs.
- Alyssa Rojo anchored the Pioneers defensively with a team-high eight digs while adding four assists and one service ace.
- Gracie Erichsen and Bird Moffitt each recorded a service ace for TWU.
KEY MOMENTS
- Set 1 DBU Creates Separation:Â The Pioneers remained close early in the opening frame, pulling within one at 6-5. DBU responded to create separation, but TWU continued to battle and later cut the deficit to 18-14. The Patriots closed the set with seven unanswered points to take the opener, 25-14.
- Set 2 Patriots Find Their Rhythm:Â DBU turned in its strongest offensive set of the afternoon in the second frame, recording 16 kills with just two errors on 30 attempts for a .467 hitting percentage. TWU totaled eight kills in the set, but the Patriots' efficient attack helped them claim a 25-16 win and take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
- Set 3 DBU Closes It Out:Â The Pioneers recorded eight kills in the third set as they looked to extend the match. DBU remained efficient offensively, hitting .320 with 10 kills and only two errors on 25 attempts. The Patriots took the frame 25-15 to complete the three-set victory.
