TWU SOCCER SHUTS OUT SOUTHERN NAZARENE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT ROAD WIN

BETHANY, Okla. (Sept. 2, 2026) - Texas Woman's soccer earned their third consecutive road victory Wednesday evening, defeating Southern Nazarene 3-0 in a competitive matchup.

TWU (3-0) extended their all-time winning streak against the Crimson Storm (0-1-1) to six matches, with the Pioneers recording shutouts in each of the last four meetings.

The Pioneers took an early lead in the eighth minute when Concepcion Maya found the back of the net through traffic for her first career goal. Mardie Frye started the play with an entry pass to Giselle Gutierrez, who helped set up Maya for the finish and a 1-0 TWU lead.

TWU continued to apply pressure throughout the opening half, recording 20 shots, including 11 on goal.

The Pioneers added to their lead in the 40th minute following their seventh corner kick of the half. Bri Luna delivered the ball to the back post, where Gianna Antovoni finished with a header for her first goal of the season and the second of her career.

TWU added their third goal just eight minutes into the second half. Halee Avery started the counterattack with a pass forward to Alexandra Hughes, who broke behind the defense and finished a one-on-one opportunity against the goalkeeper to make it 3-0 in the 48th minute.

The Pioneers' defense held Southern Nazarene scoreless for the remainder of the match and one shot attempt allowed, securing the shutout and TWU's third consecutive road victory.

 FROM HEAD COACH BABAK ABOUZAR
"A really great team win with three different goal scorers," Abouzar said. "I'll be honest, I was a little concerned about the jet lag coming back from our trip to Hawaii, but our team came ready to play. We've now opened the season 3-0, with all three games coming on the road. We're excited to finally be in front of our home crowd this Saturday for our season opener."
