DENTON, Texas (Sept. 26, 2026) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team battled West Texas A&M in a four-set Lone Star Conference matchup Saturday afternoon inside Kitty Magee Arena, falling 3-1.

The Pioneers (4-10, 1-3 LSC) dropped the opening set 25-17 before responding with a 25-20 victory in the second. West Texas A&M (7-8, 2-2 LSC) regained the advantage with a 25-21 win in the third and held off TWU in a tightly contested fourth set, 25-23, to close the match.

TWU finished with 57 kills and hit .224 for the match, while West Texas A&M recorded 54 kills on a .198 hitting percentage.

The Pioneers also held advantages in assists, 55-48, digs, 79-77, and blocks, 12-7.

Trinity Blackwood led the Pioneers offensively with 16 kills, while Mary Grace King and Kaysie Nabors each added 14.

Alyssa Rojo anchored the defense with a match-high 24 digs, King added 12 , and Nia Johnson finished with 10.

Lorena Gómez directed the offense with 27 assists and added two service aces, while Cat Millsap recorded 21 assists.

At the net, Benedite Anuman led TWU with six blocks. Teagan Hill finished with five blocks.

• Set 1 West Texas A&M Takes the Opener: TWU recorded 12 kills in the opening frame, but West Texas A&M used an early run to create separation. The Lady Buffs hit .212 and held the Pioneers to a .103 hitting percentage to take the first set, 25-17.
• Set 2 Pioneers Answer Back: TWU found its rhythm offensively in the second set, totaling 15 kills with just four errors. The Pioneers hit a match-best .314 while holding West Texas A&M to a .088 hitting percentage to take the frame, 25-20, and even the match at one set apiece.
• Set 3 West Texas A&M Regains the Lead: The Pioneers continued to produce offensively with 14 kills and a .278 hitting percentage in the third. West Texas A&M recorded 13 kills and hit .231 to edge TWU, 25-21, and move ahead 2-1.
• Set 4 Pioneers Battle to the Finish: TWU recorded a match-high 16 kills in the fourth frame and battled West Texas A&M down to the final points. The Lady Buffs totaled 19 kills in the set and held off the Pioneers, 25-23, to secure the four-set victory.
