DENTON, Texas (Sept. 5, 2026) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team closed the Marriott Inn & Suites Corinth – Denton Volleyfest in impressive fashion Saturday, earning a pair of victories at Kitty Magee Arena to finish the weekend with three consecutive wins.
The Pioneers (3-5) opened the day with a dominant 3-0 sweep of Southern Arkansas before rallying past Stanislaus State 3-1 Saturday evening.
After earning their first win of the season Friday night against No. 15 Central Oklahoma, TWU carried that momentum into Saturday.
Against Southern Arkansas, the Pioneers controlled the match from the opening point, winning 25-15, 25-13 and 25-18.
TWU hit an impressive .402 as a team, recording 46 kills while committing just seven errors on 97 attacks.
The Pioneers hit .400 in the opening set and were even more efficient in the second, hitting .516 with 17 kills and just one error.
TWU finished the sweep by hitting .306 in the third set while holding Southern Arkansas to a .176 attack percentage.
Mary Grace King led the Pioneers with 10 kills, while
Trinity Blackwood and
Gracie Erichsen added eight kills apiece.
Lorena Gómez directed the offense with 22 assists, and
Alyssa Rojo anchored the defense with 16 digs.
Blackwood also finished with a team-high six blocks, while
Teagan Hill added five. Erichsen contributed two service aces, while Rojo and Gómez each added one.
TWU then faced Stanislaus State Saturday evening and battled through a much more competitive four-set match.
The Pioneers edged the Warriors 26-24 in the opening set before Stanislaus State answered with a 25-22 win in the second.
TWU regained control in the third set, winning 25-17, before closing the match with a 25-15 victory in the fourth.
TWU finished with 55 kills and hit .279 as a team, while holding Stanislaus State to a .196 hitting percentage.
The Pioneers also held a significant advantage in serving, recording 11 aces to five for the Warriors.
King once again led the offensive attack, finishing with 17 kills.
Kaysie Nabors added 14 kills, while Erichsen recorded eight.
Allison Watson led the Pioneers with 24 assists, followed by Gómez with 21.
Rojo delivered another standout defensive performance, recording a match-high 23 digs.
Watson added seven digs, while Erichsen finished with eight.
The Pioneers blocking presence was also key.
Montserrat Soto-Talavera led TWU with six blocks, while Nabors added five and King finished with three.
TWU's strongest stretch came late in the match.
After Stanislaus State took the second set, the Pioneers responded by winning the final two sets by a combined 50-32 margin. TWU hit .321 in the fourth set, finishing the match with 13 kills and just four errors.
With Saturday's two victories, the Pioneers improved to 3-5 on the season and finished the Volleyfest with three consecutive wins after opening the tournament with five straight losses.

Texas Woman's will take its three-match winning streak on the road next week for the Lone Star Conference Challenge in San Antonio. The Pioneers will open the event Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. against St. Mary's at Bill Greehey Arena. TWU will then face UT Tyler on Friday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m., also at Bill Greehey Arena.
