Madison Nettles was named the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Specialist of the Week for the week of Feb. 3-9. The weekly honor is the first for Nettles in her brief collegiate career.
Nettles, competing in her second career collegiate meet, scored a career-high 9.850 to capture the vault title in the Pioneers' dual meet at Air Force last Saturday, Feb. 7. She helped the Pioneers capture the team vault title with a score of 48.650. Nettles also posted the best event score of the night among all gymnasts (all four events) in the dual meet. She has scored a 9.825 or better on vault in the two meets she has competed this season and has placed in the top-2 on the event in both meets.
Nettles and the Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Missouri for two meets this weekend. TWU will compete in the GQ Invitational against Centenary and Lindenwood on Friday, Feb. 13. The meet is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Family Arena in St. Charles, MO. The Pioneers will then travel to Cape Girardeau, MO, for a dual meet against Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, Feb. 13. The meet is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Houck Field House.
