DENTON, Texas (Mar. 9)
– The TWU softball home doubleheader against Tarleton State scheduled for Monday, Mar. 9 has been cancelled due to a steady rain and unplayable field conditions at Pioneer Field. The games will not be rescheduled.
The four-game Lone Star Conference series between the Pioneers and the TexAnns was originally scheduled for Mar. 6-7 but was postponed to Mar. 8-9 due to rain, ice, and snow last week. The two teams were able to play the first two games of the series on Sunday evening, Mar. 8, before the rain moved back in to Denton.
TWU won both games of Sunday's doubleheader against the TexAnns to improve their record to 10-10 on the season and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference. The Pioneers captured the first game, 11-7, in 10 innings on a walk-off grand slam by sophomore
Nicole Nordie and then run-ruled TSU, 10-2, in five innings in the night cap.
The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Wichita Falls, TX, for a four-game LSC series against Midwestern State on Mar. 13-14. TWU will play a doubleheader against the Mustangs on Friday, Mar. 13, at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. TWU and MSU will wrap-up the series with two games on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
