DENTON, Texas (July 14, 2026) - Texas Woman's Softball has announced Selena Reyna as assistant coach for the Pioneers heading into the 2026-27 season.
"I want to extend a sincere thank you to Executive Director of Athletics Sandee Mott and Head Coach Gay McNutt for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to join the Texas Woman's University family," Reyna said. "I'm incredibly honored to join Coach McNutt's staff. She has built a program with a tradition of excellence, integrity and genuine care for her student-athletes. I'm excited to work alongside Coach McNutt. Her passion for the game, leadership and commitment to excellence make this an incredible place to continue learning and growing as a coach.
"I'm humbled, grateful and ready for this next chapter. All glory to God for His faithfulness and for leading me exactly where I'm meant to be. Go Pioneers!"
Reyna joins TWU after serving as the head coach at Western Texas College since 2023, where she directed all aspects of the program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, scheduling, travel coordination and fundraising. She coached every position group while helping student-athletes develop the skills needed to continue their careers at four-year institutions.
"I am so excited to have Selena Reyna join my staff," McNutt said. "Selena brings with her an incredible amount of knowledge, passion and determination that will help take our program to greater heights. Her energy and philosophy align with mine and where we want this program to go. I cannot wait to get started with Selena and see how she elevates our team offensively as well as on the road recruiting future Pioneers."
Before her time at Western Texas, Reyna spent the 2022-23 season as head coach at Texas College, where she inherited a rebuilding program and led the Steers to the most wins in program history. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, she assisted the athletic department with administrative operations, managed budgets and coordinated academic support for student-athletes.
Reyna began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at San Jacinto College, helping the program capture Region XIV Conference and Region XIV Tournament championships in 2017. She also spent time as an instructor at D-BAT Webster, providing hitting and defensive instruction while mentoring young athletes.
As a student-athlete, Reyna enjoyed a standout four-year career at Ball State University. A four-year starter for the Cardinals, she earned Mid-American Conference All-Freshman Team honors, was named MAC West Player of the Week and helped lead Ball State to two MAC regular-season championships, a MAC Tournament title and an NCAA Regional appearance.
Reyna earned her bachelor's degree in general studies with an emphasis in sports studies and coaching from Ball State University.
She joins a Pioneer program that continues to build on their success under McNutt and will play a key role in the program's pursuit of Lone Star Conference and national success.
