About the Pioneers
TWU snapped a seven-game losing streak on Tuesday with a five-set win over Dallas Baptist at home and followed it up with their first conference victory Friday night against Midwestern State inside Kitty Magee Arena. The consecutive wins matches a season-high as the Pioneers opened the season with a pair of victories. Anna McGee's 21 kills versus MSU is the first 20-plus kills total for a Pioneer this season and the highest mark since current Pioneer graduate Hillary Shaffer notched 21 kills versus Cameron on Nov. 6, 2015, in a 3-2 victory.

About the Aggies
Cameron is seeking it first victory in Lone Star play after losses to West Texas A&M, Texas-Permian Basin, Midwestern State, Western New Mexico, Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Commerce. The two wins for the Aggies have come against Southern Arkansas and St. Edward's.

History between Texas Woman's and Cameron
TWU holds a 34-21 all-time series lead over the Aggies dating to the 1977 season. The Pioneers were victorious in both matches last season.

Last meeting between Pioneers and Aggies
DENTON, Texas (Nov. 6, 2015) – TWU senior middle blocker Hillary Shaffer recorded a career-high 21 kills to help the Pioneers to a five-set win over visiting Cameron, 22-25, 25-14, 25-19, 15-25, and 15-7.  With the win TWU improved to 21-6 on the season and 10-4 in the Lone Star Conference.

Shaffer recorded her 21 kills on 36 attempts and had just three errors for a .500 hitting percentage.  She also had eight blocks at the net.  Junior Sara Oxford recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs.  Senior Joey Redwine posted 49 assists and 11 digs while senior Torie Talkington had a game-high 21 digs and junior Mallory Kuechle finished with 19 digs.

McGee, Noel shine in first conference victory
DENTON, Texas (Sept. 30, 2016) – Anna McGee of Texas Woman's University registered a career-high 21 kills along with a career-best 15 from Courtney Noel to guide the Pioneers to their first Lone Star Conference victory of the season in a 3-2 win over Midwestern State Friday night inside Kitty Magee Arena.

The offensive efforts by McGee and Noel were accompanied by Sara Oxford's 14 kills to contribute to a season-high 66 kills for TWU (5-9, 1-4 LSC). Setter Katy Ranes assisted on 51 of the attacks for a consecutive 50-plus performance. Just as impressive as the individual totals were the rallies put forth by the team under dire circumstances. In the third set, TWU trailed the Mustangs 23-20 before ending on a 6-1 run to take the lead in the match, and the squad finished the night with eight straight points after facing a 12-8 deficit in the fifth.

Oxford scored the first two points of the match on a slide play and service ace while McGee and Noel each provided a kill for an early 4-1 Pioneer advantage. A block by Oxford and Ranes extended the lead to 10-5 but MSU (7-7, 3-3 LSC) cut the deficit to 13-11 to force a timeout called by head coach Jessica Beener. TWU responded with kills from Noel, Kerstin Jenkins and Briley Cole to jump ahead 17-11. Another kill by Jenkins off of a block upped the margin to 21-12 to lead the Pioneers to the opening set victory.

The Mustangs began set two with a kill and built an 8-5 lead, but TWU took the lead on a 4-0 run highlighted by an Oxford block. Two MSU errors and a kill by McGee put the Pioneers in front at 20-17, but the Mustangs finished strong with eight straight points on an array of kills and Pioneer errors to knot the match at one game apiece.

Set three played close throughout with TWU taking the largest lead at 13-9 after three straight Mustang attack errors, although MSU quickly tied things up. A kill by Cole down the line put the Pioneers up 18-17, but the Mustangs strung together four straight for a 21-18 advantage. Oxford fired a kill from the middle to cut the deficit to 22-20, and McGee shanked a kill off of a defender to knot the frame at 24-24. TWU made an impressive defensive play that was called down but was then ruled a replay where the Mustangs made a ball handling error to put the Pioneers at set point, and Noel put the final point away on a kill.

After scoring three straight on a 4-4 tie in set four MSU built a steady lead at 17-11. The Mustangs looked as though they would take the set with a 22-17 lead, but a kill by Noel and blocks by Noel and Cole sliced the deficit to 22-20. Another pair of kills by Noel and Cole pulled TWU to within 23-22, but MSU held on to force a fifth set.

Noel came through big in the final stanza with two kills to give TWU leads at 3-2 and 4-3 before the Mustangs took a sizable 11-6 advantage. An MSU service error helped out the Pioneers pull to within four, but a Mustang kill raised the score to 12-7 to place TWU in a tough spot. McGee placed a pair kills and another by Noel had the Pioneers to within 12-10. MSU tallied a service error while Oxford delivered a service ace at the feet of a defender to tie the decisive set at 12-all. Ranes dumped over a kill on the unsuspecting Mustangs to take the lead and then teamed up with Noel for a block before Noel tacked on the final point of the night for the Pioneer win.
