The Belles suffered their second conference loss Friday night in a 2-1 defeat by Texas A&M-Commerce to bring their record to 7-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 within the league. Demi Tsambasis leads the conference in goals (11), points (21) and shots (53).
History between Texas Woman's and Angelo State
The first game in TWU program history was versus ASU where the Belles took a 5-0 win on Aug. 30, 2002. ASU holds an all-time 13-7-1 edge over the Pioneers, and the Belles twice defeated TWU last season.
Last meeting of TWU and ASU
SAN ANGELO, Texas (Oct. 30, 2015) – The TWU soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at #3 Angelo State Friday night. The Pioneers are now 9-6-2 on the season and 4-4-1 in the Lone Star Conference.
In the first 45 minutes both teams got off five shots each and one shot on goal. However, the Rambelles capitalized on their one shot in the third minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. ASU's Molly Warren found the net on a header to the far post on a cross from Kathleen Keoughan.
The Pioneers continued to go toe-to-toe with the No. 3 team in the nation and matched shot for shot throughout the second half but could not get the equalizer. TWU got off seven shots including two on goal but neither found the net.

Chelsea Martin led the team with three shots. Senior
Ariana Morrison played all 90 minutes in the net and made three saves. ASU had a slight 13-12 advantage in shots and both teams recorded three shots on goal. The Rambelles also had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Jones, Larson and Martin direct TWU to victory
ODESSA, Texas (Oct. 7, 2016) –

Gaby Larson and
Chelsea Martin within the first 14 minutes of the contest against Texas-Permian Basin to guide the Pioneers to a 2-0 win over the Falcons in Lone Star Conference action Friday night on UTPB Turf Field.
TWU (6-4-1, 2-3-0) registered 14 shots on the night compared to 11 from UTPB (0-8-1, 0-5-0 LSC) and put seven shots on goal to just two by the Falcons.
Samantha Jimenez tallied two saves while UTPB stopped five.
During the 11th minute, Jones sent assist number one to Larson for her first goal on the season. Larson directed her shot from just outside the box into the upper right corner of the goal for a 1-0 Pioneer advantage.
Less than two minutes later, Larson and Jones teamed up again, this time to assist Pioneer goals leader Martin on a header to put TWU up 2-0.
The combined three assists from Larson and Jones was a team season-high, and the two shots allowed by the Pioneers set a season-best mark.
Soccer recognized by NSCAA for academic achievement
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 6, 2016) – Texas Woman's University earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year by recording an overall grade point average of 3.36.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players. A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States were recognized for their efforts.
