SHREVEPORT, La. (Feb. 13) – TWU scored a season-high on vault and placed second at Centenary's tri meet Saturday night in Gold Dome.  Iowa State captured the title with a 194.725 while the Pioneers scored a 191.550 and Centenary finished with a 190.275.
 
The Pioneers opened the meet on beam in the first rotation and scored a 47.825.  Three gymnasts scored a 9.700 or better led by sophomores Alyssa Kelly and Taylor Vincent with a 9.800 each.  Junior Katie Simpson also posted a 9.700.
 
On the floor in the second rotation TWU posted a 47.925 team score.  The Pioneers were led by sophomore Schyler Jones with a 9.750 while freshman Erin Alderman scored a 9.700.
 
In the third rotation on vault TWU scored a season-high 48.550 after five of the six gymnasts scored a 9.650 or higher.  Sophomore Mallory Moredock tied her career-high with a team-best 9.775 while Simpson posted a 9.750 and Jones finished with a 9.725.  Freshman Jenna Cashmore and sophomore Tessa Jaranowski both finished with a 9.650.
 
The Pioneers closed out on bars in the final rotation and finished with a 47.200.  Kelly and Simpson both excelled on the event with a 9.775 and 9.750 respectively.
 
"Tonight was another night of ups and downs," said TWU head coach Lisa Bowerman.  "The vault team shined with their big vaults and confident landings.  Katie had solid performances on all four events in her first appearances in the all-around this year.  Alyssa also had an incredible night on all three events she competed.  As a whole we continue to struggle with consistency.  We are seven meets in now and time is running out.  We have to get on the right track. We will continue to work tirelessly in the effort to right the ship and finish the season the way we know we are capable of."
 
The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to Pittsburgh, PA, to compete in a dual meet on Saturday, Feb. 20.  TWU will face Pittsburgh at 1:00 p.m. (CST) and the meet will broadcast live on ESPN3.
