DENTON, Texas (Feb. 27) – For the second straight week the TWU gymnastics team posted a season-high score of 192.625 to capture the dual meet against Centenary.  The Pioneers also scored a 48.000 or higher on all four events for the first time this season.
 
TWU opened the meet on vault and scored a 48.025.  Three gymnasts posted a 9.700 or higher led by sophomore Schyler Jones with a 9.775.  Sophomore Mallory Moredock posted a 9.725 while junior Katie Simpson finished with a 9.700.
 
In the second rotation the Pioneers scored an even 48.000 on bars.  Simpson was the team leader with a 9.725 while sophomore Alyssa Kelly scored a 9.700.
 
TWU then moved to beam and tied the season-high of 48.450 in the third rotation.  Jones once again was the team leader with a 9.825 while Moredock posted a career-high 9.775.
 
In the final rotation the Pioneers finished with a 48.150 on floor.  Freshman Erin Alderman led the team with a 9.775.
 
For the third straight week Simpson competed on all four events and captured the all-around title with a 38.525.
 
"We are very excited about the season-high for the second straight week," said TWU head coach Lisa Bowerman.  "Our biggest goal was to build on last week and we did that today with four pretty good events.  It's great to see Katie hitting her stride on all four events.  Floor was the last piece to her all-around puzzle and she is doing a good job.  She has been a great leader for us."
 
The Pioneers will return to action when they travel to College Park, MD, to compete against four teams on Sunday, Mar. 6.  TWU will face George Washington, Pittsburgh, Yale and the host Maryland at 1:00 p.m. (CST).
