The Pioneers opened the 2017 season at the Arizona Tri-Meet facing the No. 18 Wildcats and Utah State. TWU scored a 189.500 for third place while Arizona took top honors with a 194.025 and Utah State claimed third with a 191.600.
Schyler Jones took home the all-around title with an overall score of 38.650. The Pioneers are ranked 53
rd nationally following their performance at Arizona.

DU jumped up to No. 7 in the national rankings released Monday after posting a 195.875 in their season opener Saturday at Minnesota. The Pioneers are ranked in the top 11 nationally on all four events: No. 7 on vault (49.050), tied for No. 10 on bars (48.925), and No. 11 on both beam (48.950) and floor (48.950).

Denver holds an 18-1 all-time lead over Texas Woman's with the most recent matchup between the Pioneers taking place during the 2012 season where DU bested TWU, 196.735-193.650.

DENVER, Colo. (Mar. 10, 2012) – The TWU gymnastics team placed third in a tri-meet at #22 Denver with #9 Oregon State on Saturday night at Hamilton Gymnasium. The host Denver Pioneers won the meet with a score of 196.725, Oregon State finished second with 196.325 followed by TWU with 193.650.
The Pioneers opened the meet on beam and counted a fall before finishing strong on floor, vault and bars, posting a 48.175 or higher on all three events.
Junior Bethany Larimer led TWU on beam with a 9.800 while freshman Spencer Jones recorded a 9.700. The Pioneers totaled a 47.800 team beam score.
TWU moved to floor and scored a 9.700 or higher on five of their six routines to record a 48.825. Junior Kristin Edwards led the way with 9.850 followed by Spencer Jones with a 9.825.
In the third rotation on vault, the Pioneers scored a 48.750 led by freshman Kayla Jones with a 9.800. Larimer and senior Rashonda Cannie each tallied scores of 9.775.
TWU wrapped up the meet on bars and scored a 48.175. Sophomore Courtney Cochefski delivered the Pioneers' top score with a 9.725. Larimer, senior Chaynade Knowles and sophomore Victoria Cochefski all scored a 9.625.
About Air Force (1-0, 0-0 MPSF)
The Falcons began competition last weekend with a 190.875-184.750 victory over Winona State where the squad won four individual titles, including a sweep on vault and bars.

On March 16, 2003, the Pioneers set a team score record with a 196.000 showing over Air Force as well as a program-best in vault at 49.075. Several individual records were also set or tied that day, including Lindsey Clowers on vault (9.925), Stephanie Loudat on bars (9.925), Amber McMeans on floor (9.950) and Kim Koenig in all-around (39.475).
The Pioneers and Falcons have squared off 36 times since 1994, with TWU taking 22 victories.

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. (Feb. 7, 2015) – TWU freshman gymnast
Schyler Jones scored a 38.500 to tie for first in the all-around at the Pioneers' dual meet at Air Force Saturday night in Cadet West Gym. The Falcons won the meet with a team score of 192.500 while the Pioneers scored a 191.850.
The Pioneers opened the meet on bars and scored a 48.225 led by senior Courtney Cochefski who tied for first overall on the event with a 9.775. Other TWU standouts on the event were sophomore
Katie Simpson with a 9.675 and senior Spencer Jones with a 9.625.
In the second rotation on vault, TWU freshman Madison Nettles captured the event title with a career-high of 9.850 and helped the Pioneers to a 48.650 team score. Senior Kayla Jones scored a 9.800 while senior Stephanie Repp finished with a 9.725.
The Pioneers moved to floor in the third rotation and three gymnasts scored a 9.700 or higher for a team score of 47.925. Kayla Jones and Spencer Jones both finished with a 9.775 each while
Schyler Jones scored a 9.700.
In the final rotation on beam, the Pioneers stumbled and counted two falls to score a 47.000. Repp led the team with a 9.675 while freshman Brandie Lazarus scored a 9.625 and
Schyler Jones finished with a 9.575.

The Sun Devils opened the 2017 season with a 191.800-193.850 loss at Iowa State and had three gymnasts place on individual events.

Jones captures Gymnast of the Week
DENTON, Texas (Jan. 10, 2017) –
Schyler Jones of Texas Woman's University claimed the first Gymnast of the Week honor this season from the Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) as announced by the league Tuesday.
Jones began the 2017 campaign by capturing the all-around title at the Arizona Tri-Meet Jan. 6. The junior from Denton scored a 38.650 to outdo ranked Division I opponents No. 18 Arizona and No. 30 Utah State. Jones finished second on vault (9.750), third on beam (9.625), and ninth on floor (9.725) and bars (9.550).
This is the second time Jones has earned the honor from the MIC, with the first being awarded in 2015 during her freshman season.
Jones takes all-around title at Arizona
TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 6, 2017) –
Schyler Jones of Texas Woman's University opened the 2017 season by claiming the all-around title with a score of 38.650 at the Arizona Tri-Meet in competition against the Wildcats and Utah State Friday night inside the McKale Memorial Center as the Pioneers came in third with a team score of 189.500.
Jones totaled scores of 9.750 (vault), 9.550 (bars), 9.625 (beam) and 9.725 (floor). Her performances placed her in a tie for second on vault and a tie for third on beam.
Katie Simpson recorded a third place finish in all-around with scores of 9.700 (vault), 9.150 (bars), 8.800 (beam) and 9.575 (floor) for a total of 37.225. Simpson tallied the fourth highest mark amongst the three teams on vault. Bria Northrup provided a notable performance in her Pioneer debut with scores of 8.700 (vault), 9.075 (bars), 9.525 (beam) and 9.550 (floor) for an overall score of 36.850 to place third in all-around.

Hope Parkin and
Hunter Vincent provided nine routines in their first meet as Pioneers to show promise in their young careers.
Arizona finished the meet with a team total of 194.025 while Utah State came in second with a 191.600 overall score.
