DENVER (Jan. 14, 2017) –
Bria Northrop led Texas Woman's University gymnastics in the all-around competition at Denver during the Pioneers' second meet of the season by tallying an all-around score of 38.725, increasing her score by nearly two points from the season opener in Arizona last week.
TWU finished third overall with a team score of 192.125. No. 7 Denver finished in first with a 196.350, followed by Arizona State with a 193.275, and Air Force tallied a 189.750 for fourth.
Schyler Jones, the MIC Gymnast of the Week, followed Northrop with an all-around score of 38.275. Jones had steady nine point scores in all four events and took fifth place on vault with a 9.775.
Katie Simpson also competed in the all-around competition, finishing with a 37.725. Simpson recorded a season-high on vault with a 9.725.
The Pioneers started the evening on beam with a strong team score of 47.850.
Hunter Vincent took ninth place and led the Pioneers with a 9.750. The team moved to floor exercise for the second rotation to put on a steadfast performance with a team score of 48.025.
Erin Alderman recorded a season-high of 9.825 to place fourth while Northrop took ninth with her season-high score of 9.750.
Jones led the squad in the third rotation on vault and placed fifth with a 9.775 as TWU finished with an overall score 48.125. The Pioneers finished strong in the last rotation by posting a 48.125 on uneven bars. Two Pioneers placed in the top 10, with Northrop earning ninth place by scoring a 9.725 and
Jenna Cashmore following close behind in 10th with a 9.700.
