BATON ROUGE (Jan. 20, 2017) – Texas Woman's University gymnastics scored a team season-best 192.625 in a dual meet against No. 2 Louisiana State Friday in front of the fourth-largest crowd in program history inside the Maravich Center with more than 11,500 fans in attendance, as LSU took the team title with a score of 197.475.
Bria Northrop led TWU in the all-around competition by scoring 38.875 to set a career-high and taking second place, marking her third straight meet of improvement.
Schyler Jones followed with an all-around score of 38.720 to set a season-high.
The Pioneers began the evening on uneven bars and went six-for-six by nailing all routines and ending the rotation with a 48.325 in a solid start for the team. Northrop led TWU on bars with a 9.725, tying her career record.
The second rotation moved the Pioneers to vault where the team solidly produced. Northrop totaled a high score of 9.675 and to improve her career-high by .070. The team finished vault with an overall score of 48.075.
TWU shined in their third rotation on floor as
Erin Alderman and Jones both scored 9.825 to tie for fifth place. The Pioneers fed off of the roaring crowd to give an impressive performance and racking up a team score of 48.825.
The squad concluded the meet on balance beam for their fourth rotation.
Madison Dickson and Northrop went one-two in the lineup with each scoring 9.700. A few falls throughout the remainder of the lineup led to a team score of 47.400.
TWU will host their home opener Jan. 29 at 1 pm. inside Kitty Magee Arena versus Iowa State.
