Pioneers versus No. 5 Lady Muleriders and Rangers preview

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Feb. 10, 2017) – Texas Woman's University continues play in the North Texas Softball Bash hosted by the City of Grand Prairie Department of Parks, Arts and Recreation with two games Saturday against fifth-ranked Southern Arkansas at 11 a.m. and Regis at 3 p.m.

About the Pioneers
The Pioneers snapped a four-game win streak on opening day of the North Texas Softball Bash with a 6-4 loss to Oklahoma Christian and a 5-4 defeat by Lubbock Christian.
 
About the Lady Muleriders
SAU was picked fifth nationally in the NFCA Preseason Poll. The Lady Muleriders are 4-0 on the season after hosting the SAU Softball Tournament last weekend.

The Pioneers lead the all-time series, 10-8, over the Lady Muleriders dating to the 2006 season.
 
Last meeting between TWU and SAU
MAGNOLIA, Ark. (Feb. 7, 2016) – The TWU softball team dropped both games on the final day at SAU Softball Invitational.  The Pioneers fell to Delta State, 12-8, before dropping a 10-1 decision to the host Southern Arkansas in five innings.
 
In the second game against SAU, TWU scored the first run but it was all the home team after that as the Muleriders scored 10 runs.  Farquhar led off the game with a walk, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch.  Polasek followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
 
SAU tied the game in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run and then took a 2-1 lead in the second.  The Muleriders added four in the third, one in the fourth and walked off with three-run home run in the fifth inning.
 
About the Rangers
Regis is an even 4-4 on the season following play in the Lady Chap Invitational and yesterday's games in the North Texas Softball Bash.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Feb. 10, 2017) - Texas Woman's University opened the North Texas Softball Bash in difficult fashion with two losses against teams from the Heartland Conference in a 6-4 loss to Oklahoma Christian and a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat from Lubbock Christian by way of a walk-off grand slam Friday afternoon at Jennifer McFalls Park.
