Pioneers versus No. 1 Oklahoma

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 24, 2017) – Texas Woman's University gymnastics hosts their final home contest of the season against top-ranked Oklahoma Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Kitty Magee Arena and will honor the lone Pioneer senior, Katie Simpson.

About TWU
The Pioneers are coming off a meet in which they tied a program record with an overall team score of 196.000, a mark originally set in 2003. TWU is ranked 51st nationally with a regional qualifying scores (RQS) of 193.605. Beginning this week, rankings are now determined by a team's RQS. RQS is calculated from a team's six best regular season scores, three of which must be away. The overall high score is eliminated, and the five remaining scores are averaged.
 
About No. 1 Oklahoma
Defending national champion Oklahoma has compiled a nation-leading RQS of 197.890 also has tallied the highest total on all four events: vault (49.430), bars (49.495), beam (49.625) and floor (49.550).
 
Series between TWU and Oklahoma
The Pioneers and Sooners have an extensive history with Oklahoma holding a 68-3 all-time advantage.

Norman, Okla. (Feb. 3, 2017) - Texas Woman's University traveled to No.1 Oklahoma for a quad meet including No. 8 Denver and No. 20 Nebraska and finished fourth with a team score of 193.000.
 
Jones again honored as MIC Gymnast of the Week
DENTON, Texas (Feb. 21, 2017) - Schyler Jones was named the Midwest Independent Conference Gymnast of the Week for the second week in a row following her performances Sunday against Sacramento State, Penn State and Western Michigan.
 
Jones set a career-high with an all-around score of 39.225, .025 higher than her previous best Sunday inside Kitty Magee Arena. The junior recorded her highest ever score on any event with a 9.900 on balance beam and placed first on vault with a 9.850. Jones was key in helping TWU tie the school record in team score with a 196.000 originally set back in 2003. The team that set that record went on to with the 2003 USAG National Championship.
 
This marks the fourth weekly honor for Jones during her career and third this season.
 
FloSports to broadcast TWU meet versus Oklahoma Feb. 26
FloSports and FloGymnastics will be live web streaming the Feb. 26 meet between Texas Woman's University and Oklahoma. Coverage will begin at 1 p.m. CST at http://bit.ly/2iJAH43.
This will be the second year of the partnership between TWU and FloSports. Last season, FloSports broadcast three TWU gymnastics meets.
