DENTON, Texas (Feb. 26, 2017) - Texas Woman's University gymnastics faced off against No. 1 Oklahoma for the second time this season and posted a 192.975 while the Sooners registered their second highest score of the season with a 198.175 as senior
Katie Simpson was recognized for her efforts throughout her past four years as a Pioneer.

In the first rotation of the afternoon,
Jenna Cashmore competed on vault for the first time this season scoring a 9.550.
Hope Parkin increased her career high by .30 scoring a 9.500.
Brandi Lazarus came in with a 9.175 landing just a little short,
Mallory Moredock brought the heat flying to a 9.750, Simpson tied her career-high with a 9.825 for the third week in a row and
Schyler Jones anchored with a 9.775. The Pioneers finished vault with a 48.400.

Uneven bars were the unusual struggle of the day for the Pioneers. Jones started the event off strong with a 9.775,
Abigail Versemann followed with a 9.650 and
Erin Alderman had her first competitive showing of the season with a 9.450.
Taylor Vincent scored a 9.150, Simpson a 8.95 and Cashmore a 9.150. After the rotation, the Pioneers had a team score of 95.575 and an event score of 47.175.

The Pioneers moved to balance beam, with Simpson leading off with a solid 9.750, and Parkin looked like a veteran with her first competitive beam routine as a Pioneer scoring a 9.725. Moredock followed with a 9.250, Alderman brought intensity with a 9.825, Vincent came in with a 9.300 and Jones anchored with a beautiful 9.775. Head Coach
Lisa Bowerman and the Pioneers finished the third rotation scoring a 48.375 and were above their season average of 47.959. The team increased their running team score to 143.950.

Parkin had a record night with career-highs on her three events she competed by going first on floor exercise scoring an impressive 9.825. Moredock followed with a slight step out of bounds but still flipped to a 9.625. Versemann scored a 9.250 and Simpson took to floor for her last routine in Kitty Magee Arena tallying a 9.800 and many hugs from teammates and coaches. Alderman tied career high with a 9.875, and Jones set a career-high by climbing to a nearly perfect 9.900. Coach Courtney McCool Griffith propelled her team to an event score of 49.025, 0.519 points higher than the team's season average on floor.

Coaches, spectators and the Pioneer gymnasts honored six Sooner seniors who have set the bar high for NCAA gymnastics by winning three Big 12 Titles and two NCAA National Championships during their time at Oklahoma: Chayse Capps, Reagan Hemry, Charity Jones, Kara Lovan, Nicole Turner and Mckenzie Wofford.
