Pioneers at Midwestern State preview

DENTON, Texas (April 12, 2017) – Texas Woman's University heads to Midwestern State in a Lone Star Conference series beginning Thursday at 6 p.m. in a single game at Mustangs Park followed by a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m.

About the Pioneers
TWU is coming off a big 3-0 series sweep over Tarleton State last week that propelled the Pioneers up to fourth in the Lone Star Conference standings. Nicole Nordie leads the LSC in hits (60) and batting average (.480) and is third in on-base percentage (.538). Abby Walker is third in the LSC in shutouts (4) and batters struck out (86), and fifth in wins (13) and batters struck out looking (26).
 
About the Mustangs
MSU has compiled a 17-23 overall record and an 8-16 mark in the LSC play to sit ninth in the conference standings. Lauren Lindgren leads the Mustangs with a .351 batting average and a team-high 47 hits, 30 runs, 23 RBI, 11 stolen bases and six home runs. In the circle, Erin Knox has a 3.18 ERA and holds the opponents to a .250 batting average.
 
History amongst Texas Woman's and Midwestern State
The Mustangs hold a 26-19 all-time lead in the series. Last season, the Pioneers took four of five over MSU, including a win during the first round of the LSC tournament.

CANYON, Texas (Apr. 29, 2016) – The TWU softball team advanced to the Lone Star Conference Tournament championship game for the second straight season with a 6-4 win over Midwestern State in the first semifinal game Friday evening in Canyon, Texas.
 
Junior Nicole Nordie drove in three runs while junior Katie Hickey tossed seven innings and allowed just one run for the win.

DENTON, Texas (April 8, 2017) – Texas Woman's University won the series over Tarleton State by sweeping the TexAnns in two games Saturday by scores of 11-7 and 4-1 Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.
