Pioneers at NCAA South Central Regional preview (Elimination Game)

CANYON, Texas (May 11, 2017) – Texas Woman's University faces Tarleton State in an elimination game Friday at 4 p.m. in the NCAA South Central Regional at Schaeffer Park on the campus of West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.

About the Pioneers
TWU dropped a 7-5 contest to 20th-ranked St. Mary's during game one of the South Central Regional Tournament. The Pioneers must win the contest against the TexAnns in order to stave off elimination and the conclusion of their season. The Pioneers rank 12th in Division II in on-base percentage (.415) and batting average (.336).
Nicole Nordie leads the LSC in hits (80) and batting average (.462), and is fourth in on-base percentage (.535). Abby Walker is second in the LSC in batters struck out (136), fourth in saves (3) and batters struck out looking (34), and fifth in wins (17).
 
About the TexAnns
Nyka Wood is second in the LSC in RBI, third in doubles, sixth in on-base percentage and seventh in hits. Jordan Withrow owns a team-best 2.43 ERA and ranks fourth in the league in batters struck out looking, while teammate Haley Freyman has an ERA of 2.61 and is third in saves and fifth in wins.

TSU is looking for their first win over the Pioneers this season in four attempts. TWU swept the three-game series this season and pulled off a 3-2 win over the TexAnns in the LSC Tournament last week. The Pioneers hold a 40-30 all-time advantage over the TexAnns.

Friday at Mayer Field in the night game during Day One of the tournament.

CANYON, Texas (May 11, 2017) - Texas Woman's University jumped ahead 3-0 on 20th-ranked St. Mary's in the first inning during game one of the South Central Regional hosted by West Texas A&M at Schaeffer Park Thursday, and staged a seventh inning comeback, but the Pioneers committed costly errors and left 11 runners on base before falling 7-5 to the Rattlers to place TWU in an elimination game Friday.
