AMES, Iowa (Jan. 26, 2018) -
Brandi Lazarus set a career-high on beam with a 9.775 for Texas Woman's University and
Erin Alderman tied her best effort on vault with a 9.775 as TWU was defeated by 25
th-ranked Iowa State 195.275-191.050 Friday inside Hilton Coliseum.

Mallory Moredock earned first place for TWU on beam with a 9.850, and
Schyler Jones tied for first on vault with a 9.850. The Pioneers (1-3) and Cyclones (6-1) faced off for the second time in six days as the squads met Jan. 21 at Oklahoma where ISU edged TWU by a margin of 3.550.

The Pioneers had a difficult start to the competition on bars as the team totaled a 46.675.
Megan Gentry garnered the first score of the evening with a 9.525, followed by Abbie Versemann with an 8.875 and a 9.575 from
Morgan Colee.
Bria Northrop registered a team-high 9.600, while Jones notched a 9.100, and
Alyssa Kelly had a 7.275.

On vault, TWU regrouped and scored a 48.725 beginning with a 9.675 from Colee before Alderman tied her career-high with a 9.775. Gentry posted a 9.600, while Moredock scored a 9.700, Lazarus performed a 9.725, and Jones wrapped up the event with a team-best 9.850.

The Pioneers moved to floor as Versemann tallied a 9.450, and Colee scored a 9.525 to start things off for TWU. Alderman logged a 9.700, followed by a team-high 9.750 from Moredock, an 8.900 from Jones, and an 8.800 by
Bridgette Peterson to register 47.425 as a team.

Lazarus set her career-high with a 9.775 as the first TWU gymnast on beam. Alderman registered a 9.475, followed by a 9.425 from
Taylor Vincent, and a 9.275 by Kelly. Moredock put up a team-best 9.850, and Jones notched a 9.700 for an overall team score of 48.225.

Lisa Bowerman said, "I was disappointed in the outcome of tonight. We did not perform to the level that we are capable of on a consistent basis. We will bounce back next week and be ready for two strong meets in Shreveport."

The Pioneers compete twice at Centenary next week with a 12:30 p.m. meet Feb. 2 and a 2 p.m. start Feb. 4.
