About the Pioneers
TWU opened the season at the Desert Stinger Tournament in Las Vegas last weekend and compiled a record of 3-2 with wins over Fort Lewis, Mary, and Nebraska-Kearney. Sophomore
Hazel Puempel compiled nine hits, seven runs, three RBI, and a pair of stolen bases in the five games.
TWU received a first place vote and was selected third in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office Jan. 31.
The Pioneers advanced to Super Regionals for the second time in program history last season and concluded the year with an overall record of 37-22 and 18-11 in LSC play. TWU returns All-LSC Second Team selections
