DENTON (Jan. 12, 2019) — Texas Woman's Gymnastics kicked off Alumni Weekend on Saturday when they hosted Arizona State in the team's second meet of the 2019 season.
"It's absolutely one of, if not, our favorite weekends of the year," head coach
Lisa Bowerman said of the alumni returning to Kitty Magee Arena. "We are so fortunate to have the support we have from our alumni and have the tradition that we have."
Sporting retro-maroon leotards, the Pioneers improved on their opening performance a week ago, posting a score of 193.550.
"Overall, I'm excited," Bowerman said. "We took a step forward in terms of our overall team score."
Leading the way was junior
Bria Northrop who took the All-Around title, posting a 39.225.
"For each event, it's just breathing and building on the people who come before me," Northrop said. "Everybody who was in the lineup before me did a great solid routine."
Hope Parkin set the tone for the Pioneers on the first rotation of the night, posting a meet-high 9.850 on vault.
Freshman
Isabel Goyco, produced her best performance on beam with a 9.825, while
Hunter Vincent scored a 9.775 on vault to go along with a pair of 9.700 on bars and beam.
Next Saturday, the Pioneers will travel to Denver for the first quad meet of the year when they take on Denver, Sacramento State and Central Michigan.
