DENVER (Jan. 19, 2019) — Texas Woman's competed in its first road quad of the season on Saturday night, finishing in third place following a team score of 190.200.
"Going into the meet we were very excited to be on the road and be on the floor with three other teams," head coach
Lisa Bowerman said. "That excitement faded a lot after starting floor with two falls counting."
The co-captains,
Erin Alderman and
Bria Northrop, anchored the Pioneers with Alderman setting the pace with a team-high 9.850 on floor and a 9.775 on beam. Northrop posted a 9.800 on Floor while also logging a 9.775 on Bars.
"Overall, tonight was a disappointing showing for us," Bowerman added. "Our energy was not consistent throughout the night and we didn't show a lot of fight in many of the challenging moments."
Hope Parkin posted the team's best score on Vault with a 9.765 while Northrop ended the night with a fourth-place finish in the All-Around.
"I continue to strongly believe that we are a great team," Bowerman said. "I have no doubt this team will take a lot away from tonight and will use it to make us better for the rest of the season."
Next Sunday, the Pioneers will return home for the TWU Quad at 2 p.m. against Centenary (Louisiana), Wisconsin-Stout and Wisconsin-La Crosse.
"The team will band closer together," Bowerman added. "They will be hungry to get back out on the competition floor on Sunday."
