DENTON (Jan. 27, 2019) — Texas Woman's Gymnastics returned home on Sunday for the TWU Quad, hosting Wisconsin-La Crosse, Wisconsin-Stout and Centenary. The Pioneers produced their best meet of the season, scoring a 194.300.
"I was really proud of how (the team) bounced back,"
Lisa Bowerman said. "Overall, the feeling of what they gave, the energy they had and the cohesiveness they had. That was the difference maker today."
Bria Northrop captured the All-Around title by posting a score of 39.025 while
Erin Alderman helped anchor the Pioneers with a meet-high 9.875 on Beam – tying a career-high – and a 9.850 on Floor.
"It's so incredible to see Erin performing at the level that she is," Bowerman said. "When she was on Floor, I was thinking back to her freshman year and just how far she's come as a competitor."
One of the meet's highlights was
Jenna Cashmore posting a career-high on Bars with a score of 9.850, which topped the leaderboard.
"Today was really big for Jenna," Bowerman added. "For her to go out there today and get back to what she knows she's capable of was fantastic."
Steady performances from
Hope Parkin and
Hunter Vincent helped the Pioneers to victory. Parkin posted 9.775 on Beam and Vault before ending her afternoon with a 9.700 on Floor. Vincent posted a 9.725 on Vault before tallying a 9.750 on Bars.
The Pioneers now set their sights on their second road meet of the season when they visit Centenary on Friday at 6 p.m.
