DENTON (Jan. 5, 2019) — Texas Woman's hosted Kentucky on Saturday in the first meet of the 2019 season.
"Having that opportunity to get out there and compete for the first time is always exciting," head coach
Lisa Bowerman said. "I was very proud of our team."
The Pioneers tallied a team score of 192.600 behind an impressive showing from junior co-captain
Bria Northrop who posted team-highs on floor exercise and the uneven bars. After scoring a 9.800 on the bars, Northrop ended the night with the highest score on floor with a 9.850.
"We saw a lot of really great performances," Bowerman said. "Just seeing the way everybody handled competition; I think it's a great starting point for us."
Morgan Colee anchored the Pioneers in the opening event, posting a 9.800 on vault with
Hunter Vincent and
Megan Gentry each posting a 9.725. On beam, Vincent and senior co-captain
Erin Alderman anchored the Pioneers, each recording scores of 9.825. Alderman would follow with another 9.825 on floor while freshman
Isabel Goyco impressed in her first collegiate meet, scoring a 9.700 on bars for her best score of the night.
Next Saturday, the Pioneers will host Arizona State at 6 p.m.
