SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (Feb. 1, 2019) — Texas Woman's Gymnastics returned to action on Friday at Centenary for the team's second road meet of the season.
Posting a team score of 192.875, the Pioneers left room for improvement according to head coach
Lisa Bowerman.
"We didn't have the complete performance on all four events that we were looking for tonight," Bowerman said. "But I was very proud of how the team battled through the ups and downs together."
Leading the way once again were the team's co-captains,
Erin Alderman and
Bria Northrop. Alderman posted solid scores for the second straight meet with a 9.825 on Floor and a 9.800 on Beam while Northrop topped the All-Around for the second time in less than a week.
"Bria and Erin continue to show their consistency," Bowerman said. "They both had solid performances."
Madison Dickson also stepped up for the Pioneers, competing on Beam and, for the first time in her career, Bars.
"I was also very proud of Madison today," Bowerman added. "She competed bars for the first time in her collegiate career and hit a beautiful routine, which was followed by a solid beam routine."
After the meet, Dickson was honored by Centenary with the Sylvia Keiter Beast Award, in remembrance of a former Centenary gymnast.
The Pioneers will be off next week before returning to the road on Feb. 15 for the GQ Invitational.
