DENTON, Texas - The Texas Woman's University basketball team (7-13, 5-11 Lone Star Conference) heads west this weekend for its penultimate road swing of the 2019-20 season, facing Eastern New Mexico (10-6, 5-5) in Portales on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before squaring off against No. 20 West Texas A&M (14-2, 9-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

COACH JILLSON SAYS
  • "We had a lot of different players step up last week and we are really looking to build on some of the things we saw on Saturday against Midwestern. Our underclassmen are playing some key minutes and have continued to show growth throughout the season. We are looking forward to going on the road against two high-quality conference opponents this weekend."
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  • This weekend's games are the lone meetings of the season between these teams. Last year, TWU was edged by ENMU 79-78 in Portales before falling 80-63 to WTAMU in Canyon.
  • The Pioneers snapped a four-game skid last time out with a 68-59 win over Midwestern State. Macy Wilkerson's 18 points off the bench led the way for TWU in the winning effort, while Ngozi Obineke grabbed a team-high nine boards.
  • The philosopher Lord Francis Bacon is credited with the quote "charity begins at home, but should not end there." For the Pioneers, the quote has an application to the team's fortunes at the charity stripe. TWU was an impressive 21-of-26 from the free-throw line in the team's last game against Midwestern State and will look to carry that "charitable" performance on the road.
