AUBURN, Ala. -
Domi Bonzagni's 9.850 on the beam and
Mackenzie Balderas' 9.750 on the floor set new career highs, as the Texas Woman's University gymnastics squad put in a strong performance in its dual meet at No. 15 Auburn on Friday night.
The Tigers finished with 196.700 points, while TWU's 192.800 will boost the Pioneers' national qualifying score.
Bonzagni's score was good enough to take first in that event.
Bria Northrop and
Daisy Woodring led the way for TWU in the vault with identical 9.750s and a sixth-place tie, while another 9.750 for Northrop on the bars led TWU in that event.
Isabel Goyco narrowly missed a career-high with a 9.850 on the floor, finishing tied for fourth.
Mara Johnson equaled her career-best with a 9.700 on the vault.
Northrop finished second in the all-around with a 39.075 after posting 9.750s in the vault, beam, and bars, then posting a 9.825 on the floor.
The Pioneers return to action on Friday, March 6, hosting a quad against No. 5 LSU, No 14 Arkansas, and Centenary. A 7 p.m. start is scheduled.
