DENTON, Texas - Alix Pierce, a sophomore transfer student from Seattle Pacific University, has joined the Texas Woman's University gymnastics program, head coach Lisa Bowerman announced Tuesday.

Pierce, a native of Saskatoon, Sasketchewan, joins the Pioneers after competing at Seattle Pacific as a freshman before SPU ended its gymnastics program.

"My heart broke for every single one of the student-athletes and coaches at SPU when they dropped their program unexpectedly this summer," said Bowerman. "I am grateful that we get to become a new home for Alix as she continues to strive for her goals in collegiate gymnastics and academics.

Pierce competed in ten meets as a freshman on the vault, beam, and floor. She posted a season high of 9.575 on the vault three times, at Oregon State, at Air Force, and at Alaska-Anchorage. She hit her season high of 9.800 on the beam in a tri-meet with Alaska-Anchorage and Sacramento State, before scoring 9.825 on the floor at the GymQuarters Invitational.

"Alix is a beautiful gymnast with strong leadership abilities," added Bowerman. "Her experience as a collegiate gymnast last year and her dynamic personality are just a few of the things that make her an outstanding addition to our program."
