DENTON, Texas - Freshman
Sierra Muns turned in a career-high score, one of six for the Pioneers, while four new season-high marks were set in the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team's dual meet with Pittsburgh on Saturday night inside Kitty Magee Arena. Pitt came away with a 195.575-192.925 win in the dual.
TWU opened with a strong performance on vault, with
Emerson Adams tying her career-high 9.800 earning a first-place finish. There was a five-way tie for second, with
Mara Johnson joining Muns' 9.750 to tie for second in the event.
Madeline Gose,
Beth Lazarus, and
Steelie King all posted 9.700 marks to tie for seventh as TWU scored a 48.700 in the event.
The Pioneers moved onto bars, and season-high marks of 9.700 by Johnson and King tied for fourth in the event, pacing TWU. Lazarus' 9.675 tied for sixth as the Pioneers scored a 47.575.
Gose turned in a season-high 9.825 on beam to tie for fourth, while
Domi Bonzagni and
Emily Six both scored 9.725 in the event - Six's score representing a new career-high mark, as TWU equaled its 47.575 score from the uneven bars.
The best was saved for last, however, as four Pioneers racked up career-high scores on the floor exercise.
Mara Johnson's career-high 9.875 earned a first place finish, while Muns also notched a career-high with a 9.850, tying her for second.
Isabel Goyco's 9.825 gave her sole possession of fifth, while Bonzagni equaled her career-high 9.800 as TWU scored a 49.075 - the Pioneers' highest score on floor this season.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, January 30, hosting Centenary in a 2 p.m. dual meet inside Kitty Magee Arena.
