ROCK AND ROLL: LET'S DO IT
  • BACK TO IT: TWU has been known for their lockdown defense all season. On Thursday night, against Cameron, the Pioneers channeled their greatest strength to defeat the Aggies. They held Cameron to their lowest number of threes this season, seven (tying the lowest for the third time). TWU also only allowed Cameron to score just seven points in the second quarter, their lowest quarter points this season. The Pioneers will have to uphold their defensive dominance to get the win on Saturday.
  • DROUGHT DOUBTS: West Texas A&M lost their first LSC game of the season against Midwestern State, due in large part to poor shooting in the first half. They scored six points in the first and nine points in the second quarter. As stated above, the Pioneers defense can aid in limiting the scoring of the Lady Buffs. TWU hit a scoring drought in the fourth quarter against Cameron, but were able to maintain the lead. The Pioneers will look to avoid the droughts, but maintain their composure down the stretch to get the win.
  • PAINT POWER: Ashley Ingram recorded another 20-point performance against Cameron, and Agang Tac added eight points, while Ma'K'La Woods finished with five to round out the post scoring for TWU. Midwestern State defeated West Texas A&M by scoring 32 points in the paint to the Lady Buffs 14 points in the paint. The Pioneers will need to dominate the battle in the paint to get the win.
  • 3-POINT THREAT: The Lady Buffs have a 10-point win over No. 7/10 Texas A&M University – Commerce, who only has two losses, this season. In that win, West Texas A&M made 11 threes. The Pioneers need to guard the 3-point line and recognize the ability of the Lady Buffs to score, doing this will help give TWU the advantage in the game.
