DENTON, Texas (Oct. 7, 2022) - Texas Woman's volleyball team (12-7, 3-4) go against the #1 ranked team in the Lone Star Conference, West Texas A&M (13-4, 6-0), Saturday, Oct. 8.
After a tough road loss to Lubbock Christian (8-11, 4-4) on Oct. 5 in five sets, the Pioneers take a home court advantage this weekend facing off against Cameron (5-15, 0-6), Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m., followed by West Texas A&M, Saturday Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.
West Texas A&M holds a 46-9 advantage over the Pioneers since 1980. In their last matchup on Nov. 12, the Pioneers fell in three sets in Kitty Magee Arena.
This season the Buffalos have won six straight games, making them the team to beat. The Buffalos rank top five in hitting percentage (.254), assists (12.32 per set), kills (13.59 per set) and blocks (2.36 per set).
Serving has been the Pioneers secret weapon this season, recording 1.43 service aces per set over the Buffalos. Tori Woods has been an asset for the Pioneers, recording 32 service aces this season.
Yanely Pabon is number five in the conference averaging 4.73 digs per set. Pabon runs the back court defense and aided the Pioneers in averaging 15.94 digs per set, trumping the Buffalos.
