DENTON, Texas (November 2, 2022) - Texas Woman's (14-12, 5-9) volleyball will bring their regular season to a close with a home court matchup this weekend.
As a thank you for all their hard work, the Pioneers will honor the faculty and staff on Friday, Nov. 4 prior to their match against Oklahoma Christian (15-12, 6-8). First serve is slated for 6 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena.
Following their Friday night matchup, the Pioneers will celebrate their seniors on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. against Arkansas-Fort Smith (15-12, 7-7).
Last weekend, the Pioneers dominated Texas A&M International with a road win in five sets on Friday, only to fall to Texas A&M - Kingsville Saturday afternoon.
On Sep. 24, 2022, the Pioneers registered 49 kills against OC, followed by four aces and three blocks. Last season's match against OC marked the first all-time series matchup against the Pioneers.
OC has an overall record of 15-12 and a conference record of 6-8, after recording wins this past weekend against UT Permian Basin and Angelo State.
Saturday's matchup against Arkansas-Fort Smith will be the fourth matchup of the all-time series. The Lions lead the series 2-1, after defeating the Pioneers in KMA on Nov. 16, 2019.
The Lions, like OC, are 15-12 overall, but are 7-7 in the conference. After going 3-0 last weekend against UT Tyler, Angelo State, and UT Permian Basin, the Lions garnered the Lone Star Conference's offensive and defensive player of the week awards.
