SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
Madeline Gose posted a 9.875 on vault while
Emily Six posted a 9.775, setting new career highs as the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team combined a team score of 195.425 - the Pioneers' highest team score since the 2018 USAG National Championships - as TWU turned in a second-place finish at Sacramento State's quad meet on Friday evening inside the Hornet's Nest.
TWU tied or exceeded season-high marks in three of four events, tying a season-best 48.925 on vault while setting new season highs in bars with a 48.775 and floor with a 49.100.
The Pioneers opened on floor, with Gose and
Sierra Muns both posting identical 9.850s and tying for third in the event.
Isabel Goyco's 9.825 tied for sixth, while
Mara Johnson scored a 9.800 to tie for ninth in the event.
Alix Pierce (T-11th) picked up a 9.775 and
Domi Bonzagni (13th) added a 9.725.
From there, the Pioneers took to the vault, where Gose and
Daisy Woodring both posted 9.875 scores to tie for fourth. Muns turned in a 9.775 to finish ninth, while
Beth Lazarus' 9.725 tied for 11th.
TWU moved to bars for the third rotation and Goyco led the way for the Pioneers, tying for fifth with a 9.825, while Johnson also turned in a top-ten finish, scoring a 9.775 to tie for seventh.
Steelie King was closely behind with a 9.750 to sit in 12th, while
Maddie Griffith (9.725, 14th) and
Kyla Podges (9.700, 17th) rounded out the Pioneers' countable scores.
King's 9.875 on beam placed her in a three-way tie for first, while Gose finished in a tie for fourth with a 9.850. Six's debut performance placed her in a tie for ninth.
The Pioneers conclude their California swing on Sunday, Feb. 20, traveling to UC Davis for a quad meet also featuring Air Force and Alaska-Anchorage.
