DENTON, Texas (April 12, 2022) – The Texas Woman's University softball team will host a non-conference game against Oklahoma Baptist University on Wednesday, April 13.

TWU (9-26, 4-20 Lone Star Conference) was on the road last weekend. Most recently, they dropped two games to No. 23 West Texas A&M University on Sunday, April 10.

The Bison of OBU (25-18, 13-11 Great American Conference) are currently on a four-game winning streak after defeating Northwestern Oklahoma State University in a three-game series on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9.

At Dianne Baker Field on Wednesday, April 13, TWU Athletics will also be hosting a Striving for Excellence Celebration. Student-athletes and coaches from all of the TWU athletic teams will be in attendance, and food will be provided for TWU faculty, staff and students with their ID.

The event will be a time to celebrate and honor the many Pioneer accomplishments this year and to look ahead to the future, as TWU aims to continue to build a foundation of excellence in all athletic programs.

MIDWEEK MADNESS

  • BLAST FROM THE PAST: The last time the Pioneers and Bison met was in 2004 at home, and TWU defeated OBU 11-0. Before 2004, the pair played each other at a neutral site in San Antonio, Texas in 1999. The Pioneers also won that game 1-0. TWU will look to keep their streak over OBU going on Wednesday.
  • AVOID THE K'S: OBU currently sits atop the national leaderboards in strikeouts with 369. TWU will have to find ways to hit and put the ball in play on Wednesday.
  • FLEX THE SPEED: Nya Brown has stolen 23 bases on the season for the TWU, which ranks seventh in the LSC. TWU has stolen 46 bases on the season. The Pioneers will need to flex their speed on Wednesday against OBU.
