DURANT, Okla. (April 19, 2022) – The Texas Woman's University softball team hits the road for a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma State University on April 19.

TWU (9-28, 4-20 Lone Star Conference) will play their second nonconference game in a row this afternoon, after playing Oklahoma Baptist last week at home.

Southeastern (24-22, 15-12 Great American Conference) most recently played a three-game series against Ouachita Baptist University on April 15-16, winning the series 2-1.

The meeting today between the two teams marks the 42nd time the Pioneers and Savage Storm have played. The teams already played once this season on February 7 at a neutral site in the season-opening Arkansas Tech Invitational.

BRING THE PIONEER ENERGY
  •  GETTING ON THE BOARD: In their last doubleheader against Oklahoma Baptist, the Pioneers exploded for four runs in the first game and three runs in the second game. In the first game, the Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to narrowly lose by one run. Then, in the second game, TWU opened the game with three runs in the first inning. The Pioneers will need to keep this high scoring energy up and get on the board against the Savage Storm.
  • LAST MEETING: The last time the two teams met Southeastern won 5-0 and the Pioneers only recorded four hits. In their last two game combined, TWU recorded 16 hits. If the Pioneers can put the ball in play, then they will give themselves a chance to make an impact on offense.
  • SPEED: Against Oklahoma Baptist, Nya Brown stole one base, which increased her season total to 24 stolen bases. Brown ranks in the top 10 in the LSC in stolen bases at No. 6. The Pioneers will look to flex their speed against the Savage Storm this afternoon.
